«Black mirror»
till to 29 November
Black mirror - personal exhibition of Yuri Siviryn
The artist appears to be in a state of mutually exclusive and intense mental dilemmas. His path is "Black Mirror" of the new information technologies. It attracts, but at the same time frightens – this is the fear of chaos and uncertainty. Yuri Siviryn intends to call a spade a spade, and by doing so, he reveals/opens wounds. "What is time?" is the core question that worries the author, and "Are there others like me, who experience the disappearance of meanings and images just as painfully?" – the artworks of Siviryn are about the search for compassion and understanding. Like all of us, he has to live in an era of constant information traumas and attacks. However, he does not hesitate to share his unique experience of surviving through the looking glass – creates an honest conversation about his and our meaning of life.

Yuri Siviryn calls a spade a spade, and by doing this, he opens wounds. What is time?" is the core question that worries the author, and "Are there others like me, who experience the disappearance of meanings and images just as painfully?" – the artworks of Siviryn are about the search for compassion and understanding … Just like "inconvenient" artists for the official mainstream of the past social realism times, he transmits his story of concerns into images. The images that are not always appropriate, comfortable, pleasant, but – enviably expressive … And what about the vast amount of trash from the Internet to find the truth? Video clips, fragments, combinations, compromises, mutual exclusions, and paranoid forms - all this together reflects unfiltered, unformed, and confusing information. There is a need for hidden logic in the accumulation of strange shapes. There is a need to find sense in the endless abyss of delusions.
Yuri Siviryn
For me, Yuri Siviryn is one of the most significant, fascinating, and pleasant discoveries in the young Ukrainian art scene of recent years. He combines virtuoso skills and a paradoxical view of the world. He immerses the viewer in total psychedelic hallucinations and invites walk through the metaphysical spaces of his own and collective unconscious. He works with stereotypes of mass culture and museums classic. At the same time, it is a computer game, an opera performance, gothic noir, and steampunk. It is an exit from the spacetime continuum and a revolt against anatomy, which is "destiny." I admire Severin's use of color - ascetic, brutal, and refined. His picturesque language refers to the "vacuum tube" black and white cinema, comics, pin-up, and the latest radical figurativeness. It is a great honor for me to acquaint the Odesa audience with the work of Yuri Sivirin. I do not doubt that he will find his fans in Odesa. "

"I have always been interested in human weirdness. Why do intelligent people act inconsistently, losing moral principles? The question is rhetorical… but I am trying to address this in my works. "emotions" and "rationality" are in constant conflict and diffused. My artworks are about the complexity of life, although it's purpose – is to relieve the tension and give hope to people."- emphasizes Yuri Siviryn.
